Noah: One Year Old

Noah is our little cousin.
He's a cutie, isn't he?

We got to celebrate his first birthday recently, and it was a blast!  He wasn't sure what was going on, but he loved the attention!
He loved the water too!  You couldn't keep him away from it!

Owen on the other hand, preferred his daddy to be there.  We get to celebrate his birthday this month!

Then came the cake.

He really liked that!

He had it all over him before he was done!

Owen was a little more conservative.  One bite at a time!
Happy Birthday little guy!  We love you!  God bless you with many more!

July 1st

July 1st is a special day....  Noela was born that day!  For her fourth birthday, we invited some of her friends over, and made pretzels.

The Birthday Girl!

Everyone got to role out and shape some pretzels!

And the finished product was delicious!  We ate them with salt, butter, mustard, olives, and frosting :~)  The little ones especially liked decorating them with the sugary stuff!

Here is the pretzel recipe...Enjoy!

4 teaspoons yeast (2 packets)
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups warm water
5 cups flour (I used white....but am going to try wheat sometime soon.)1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon oil (I used olive)
1/2 cup baking soda
5 cups hot water
Salt for topping

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar in warm water. Let stand for 8-10 min. or until mixture begins to foam.

In a large bowl, mix together flour, 1/2 cup sugar and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and oil. Mix and form into flexible, slightly tacky dough. If it feels too dry, add water by little bits until it feels right. Knead the dough until smooth. Place the ball of dough in a large bowl lightly coated with oil. Turn and coat the dough in the bowl and and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large saucepan, bring 5 cups of water to a boil and dissolve baking soda (Careful! The soda will want to bubble over!). Keep a lid on saucepan and reduce heat to a simmer.

In the meantime, turn dough out onto a lightly oiled surface and divide into 10-12 equal pieces (or however large you want your pretzels). Roll each piece into a 1/2 inch rope and form into a pretzel shape (or whatever shape you like!). Using a flat spatula, dip each pretzel (one by one) into the boiling water for a couple of seconds and place on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

If you would like to do this for a party, simply prepare the dough, and start it rising.  Your guests can then roll out and shape their own pretzels, bake them, and eat them right then!  Make sure to have a large variety of toppings...it makes it lots of fun!

July 1st~Noela is Two!!!

Two years ago Noela was born......how awful life would be without her! We wouldn't have known all the things we would have missed! She has taught me lots of patience, and makes us all laugh!

She hardly ever leaves her clothes on!

Isn't she pretty?

Bright Lights

Hello girls!

We had a great meeting last night! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

A lot of people shared, including many songs, pieces on the keyboard, scripture, and Mary made a bookmark for each girl!

After that, we celebrated Abigail's birthday with cake and ice cream!

Next meeting we are going to be doing some scrap-booking! We have been sticking close to the lessons, and since we are now in-between a set, I thought this would be a good time to do a project like scrap-booking. It also goes with the last meeting's theme of having a ministry and using your talents.

I want each of you to bring three or four pictures with generally the same theme. If you have any scrap-booking supplies that you are willing to share, we would appreciate that too.

The memory verse is Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Next meeting (July 6th) MaKenzie and Marie are bringing snacks. I want to thank Abigail for bringing cake and ice cream (we had a nice birthday celebration!) and Maria for bringing fruit and scones last meeting. It is really appreciated! Also, thank you Marie, for decorating the board! It looked great! Lydia, you did a great job as greeter!

Next meeting there are still open places for the greeter and for someone to decorate the board. Any takers?

I would like to have any of the dad's emails that are interested in keeping up-to-date on the group (i.e. reminders on meeting dates, lessons, assignments, etc.).

We are going to be off for three weeks, so if any of you need to catch up on lessons or work on memory verses, this is a good time!

Joyfully,
Haley

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Today we celebrated Grandpa Fedewa's 88th birthday. Almost all the aunts, uncles, and cousins were at Grandma's for the fun.
