The Statue of Liberty

Over the last couple weeks, we have been on vacation.  It was so much fun!

First, we visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  I loved the museums!
This is one of the previous torches.  They have had several before the current one, which is copper plaited with gold.
Isn't it pretty how the sun is right behind the torch?
Vince is getting really good at capturing fun photos.  He took these last four pictures!
In the museum, they had this same-size reconstruction of Lady Liberty's foot.
The corner stone of the monument.
Lydia, and the ferry going to Liberty Island.
We had fun displaying our "Fedewa" shirts!
This picture is from the pedestal observation deck.  It's pretty high up!
The inside supports of the statue.  Originally iron, it rusted and was replaced with stainless steel.  It was quite a job, because no more than three support beams could be taken off at one time!
We have so many pictures from this trip!  I'm going to have to save Ellis Island, our uncle's wedding, sight-seeing in New Jersey, Ocean City, and everything else for some other time!  The post is getting tooo long. :~)

See ya later!

New York City...
That's one place I haven't been yet... :-)
I love skyscrapers and towers and statues- they're so much fun to be inside of! The views are amazing, too.
Love the pictures, Haley!
