Having Your Own Ministry

Last night we had our ministry meeting! We went over reasons that God wants us to have a ministry, and looked up verses to go along with it. There are four areas that all Christians should be ministering in:

#1 Prayer--I Thessalonians "Pray without ceasing." There are many ways to remember to 'pray without ceasing'. One way we do it, is every time we hear/see an airplane, we pray for the workers, passengers, etc. Or, if we hear an ambulance, we pray for the person that is in trouble, that the medics would do the right thing, for the families of the person, etc.

#2 Witnessing--Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." You know what is great? Michigan is the uttermost part of the earth-because we live on a sphere! Anywhere on a sphere can be the 'uttermost part'. One way we can witness is by getting along with our siblings. Children don't usually get along, and people notice when they do! When we went to Greenfield Village not that long ago, 3 different people asked Mom if we where home schooled, just because of the way we acted!

#3 Discipling--Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." Discipling is passing on what you know to other people. Whenever you share at a meeting, it counts as discipling.

#4 Good works--Titus 3:8 "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works." Good works will often open the door for sharing the gospel. Even little things, like holding a door or picking up something when it is dropped, counts.

#5 Writing--Although not a biblical command, if you look back over history, the writings of great Christians carry there insights and teachings to the present day. Even if you don't write a book, writing out stories and testimonies is great.

Lydia then told the story of Mr. Eternity, a man who had a writing ministry.

(Note: If you want to view this, go to the bottom of the page and put the music on pause.)

We also talked about developing your talents, stories, having a ministry mindset, and being a servant. You also need to take initiative and be courageous.

We went over a bunch of tracts and the girls got to take some home with them.

Don't forget to do the assignment! Recite a poem or scripture, do a skit, sing a song, play an instrument, etc. Email me if you want some help or suggestions!

P.S. Whoever cleaned up all the tracts, I really appreciate it!
